Elephants outside the window

I'm working on my scrapbook project today, sorting through old clippings and things and scanning them into my computer.

I found something that I'm glad I saved.

When I lived in downtown Memphis, I had an apartment right above the river and Riverside Drive. The train yard was just over the edge of the bluff from me, and the Memphis Pyramid was up the street. I remember seeing this sight from my balcony. It was such a fun thing to see. I love elephants.

Click on the pic to see it better.

Living downtown was fun, when I was younger.

I lived in downtown San Diego for a while. I liked it a lot. I could se the Balboa Park Aviation Museum from my patio. I'd do it again, but downtown LA lacks the charm (and relative cleanliness) of San Diego.

Yeah, I remember San Diego being much cleaner and more laid back than L.A. I still love downtown areas, but they're too noisy for me now.

I got lost in downtown L.A. one time. It was getting close to dark, and I'll admit I was a little worried. I still had my Tennessee tag on the car, and a cop pulled me over, saying he knew I didn't belong down there, and asked if I needed help. He directed me back to the beach area. Turns out that he was originally from Memphis and had gone to high school at a school I knew well.
