If I have to be a chard, then make me Cakebread

I liked this quiz. It made me think of my friend The Wine Commonsewer, except the quiz didn't offer California as a choice in its question about which wine region I'd like to tour. Probably written by a wannabe wine snob who thinks "serious wine lovers" are supposed to sneer at California.

You Are Chardonnay

Fresh, spirited, and classic - you have many facets to your personality.

You can be sweet and light. Or deep and complex.

You have a little bit of something to offer everyone... no wonder you're so popular.

Approachable and never smug, you are easy to get to know (and love!).

Deep down you are: Dependable and modest

Your partying style: Understated and polite

Your company is enjoyed best with: Cold or wild meat

Fun! I'm chardonnay, too :)

I'm a got dam Merlot. Miles would not be impressed. Not at all. Not sure I am, neither. However, St Francis Merlot is quite rightly, the cat's pajamas.

Thanks, for the shout out, btw.

I noticed the quiz didn't include Argentina either.

Kinda hard to sneer at Californicate when it comes to wines. Maybe for governors. Or for fiscal ineptitude. But not for wine.

Trish and Red, I rather like having some classic sisters with me in the Chardonnay family.

Twc, Merlot is good. I wouldn't mind being a merlot at all. I've met a few so-called wine people who sort of laughed at California wines several years back. I suspect they've finally come around, though, especially when they realized how uninformed it made them look.

I'll take this as proof that we are a perfect match.

I am relieved that I wasn't revealed as, what's the word?, Thunderbird.

that picture almost looks obscene. The Happy Hour one.

So, my Captain, if I'm a chardonnay and you're a chardonnay, and chard is best enjoyed with wild meats, then does that make us each other's....?

Ok, I'm not going to say that here :)

Twc, I thought it was a hot pic. Not quite obscene, but definitely thought provoking.

I took the quiz thrice because I wanted to try different answers that I thought just as suitable. The first time I came out as a pinot gris; the next two times I was a chardonnay.

I know very little about wine, but I believe I read once that chardonnay is wine that has aged in charred casks. I have no idea what a pinot gris is (or griz?) At least I'm not a Mad Dog 2020 or a Thunderbird. ;-)

I swear I posted a comment to SA about him not being a mad dog.

I don't recall that. ;-)

Looked up Pinot Gris on Wikipedia - didn't learn much. A type of white wine made from grapes that are likely clones of Pinot Noir grapes. The Pinot refers to the shape of the grape clusters, which resemble pine cones. Gris means gray and refers to the color of the grape.

And it's red wine.....

It went something like this, SA:

At least I'm not a Mad Dog 2020 or a Thunderbird. ;-)

Nor are you a Mad Housewife....

Speaking of T-Bird wines, my long gone buddy (Wayne) brought me a lovely wine shaped package for my BIG 50. Inside was a bottle of Thunderbird, which is still on the wine rack.

Click my name.

BTW, I have a rich client who loves Pinto Gris, but I find it a ghastly thing with little redeeming social value. I mean besides it being white wine and all, it just isn't good.

Then again, maybe if I tried a purportedly decent Pinot Gris, that would be diff.

Have to say the Captcha phrases at blogger are much more interesting and easy than at Typepad.

I don't drink wine, too much. I usually only drink wine if I'm with somebody who drinks wine. I prefer either beer or whiskey (depending 'pon what I'm doing).

I ran two variants of answers and got chardannay and pinot noir--two kinds I've yet to try.

Chatelaine said...

Hogan, you gotta try some pinot noir.

I like whiskey too, though. It's a requirement for football season. As for beer, I'm a domestic girl in that regard, which I know a lot of people don't consider real beer, but I don't care. An ice cold Miller Lite on a hot July day in Mississippi is always good.
