I have a gripe

I don't like the term "elites" for describing the left extremists. They are NOT truly elite, but using that term for them indicates that the user thinks they are.

Instead, I prefer to call them "elitists", which implies they just think they're elite or better than anyone who is different from them, and it implies that they are snobbish and judgmental in their choices of what is acceptable and what is not.

I also don't like to call the leftists "liberals". They are not liberal at all. They want everyone to live as they do and only as they do. They are too acceptable of totalitarian ways, as long as it's the totalitarian of their choosing. Socialism is not liberal.

I am liberal. I'm pretty much a live and let live kind of person, as long as I don't have to pay for it, and no one else is being hurt by it.

Petty, I know, but that's really been bugging me lately.

I guess I'm a bit of a cranky-pants today. The Captain is heading back to Washington this afternoon >:-{

TWC says, "I have a grape!"

Actually, you're not petty. There's a reason the pen is mightier than the sword, and that is that when one can use the right words there is a powerful effect. I often will quote poetry because of its minimalism, because every word has been plucked and parsed until only the bare meaning is there for the listening to. Obama, for all his faults, understands the power of words. So I don't think you are being petty when words that used to have a single well-known meaning are co-opted and used incorrectly. But then I'm am elitist, so what do I know.

Nah, I'm probably being petty, but I don't care. I was just voicing my opinion on something that's been bugging me. Still have free speech here...for now, anyway.
