Government Health Care Will Not Have An "Opt-Out" Clause

Investor's Business Daily has gotten a copy of the House health care bill, and has found a section which directly states that only those who already have private insurance can keep their private insurance, but you can never change it, never go to another provider, and if you lose or quit your job you have to get on the government plan. No new private plans can be sold after the law goes into effect, even if you can afford your own plan.

It's Not An Option

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law."

So, because some lazy ass loser won't get off his ass and take care of his or her own self, the rest of us will have to pay into the government plan as well, so the government can afford to give handouts to the deadbeats not willing to be responsible for their own life.

I'm writing my blue-dog democrat congressman right now. This is absolutely outrageous! Those crooked, lying, disgusting, evil bastards!

Without being able to sign up new subscribers, the existing private plans will have to increase premiums, but will eventually cease to exist.

That ain't a design flaw.

Not only the rest of us - the "lazy ass loser" gets to pay as well. The bill provides that those who have no health insurance will be fined a penalty of 2.5 percent of their gross income (adjusted or non-adjusted, I don't recall) up to about $1000 (I believe.) In other words, if one cannot afford health insurance, the government thinks one can still afford to pay an extra $1000 to the thieves in Washington. Or, if one is young and healthy and takes the calculated risk to do without health coverage, because he has other priorities for the money...well The Masters know better what one's priorities should be.

Essentially it's a new bunch of income taxes and it applies even to the "poor" and lower classes. A big tax increase and supported by the liar in DC who campaigned on the promise of not raising taxes on the middle class.

You're right, Cap. It's exactly what they always intended to do.

Smartass, I'm mostly talking about deadbeats that don't have any type of income to tax. 2.5% of nothing is still nothing, so they won't have to pay. They'll just get the free health care that the rest of us pay for, because a work ethic is so much in our blood that we couldn't stop even if we wished we could.

I hope my rant about deadbeats doesn't offend. I just think that if someone can work, they should work if they want money. Now if they don't want money, then fine, they can sit on a stump all day if they want.

I just can't believe that the news is not talking about this today. Even Fox isn't covering it.

I wonder just how many people there really are like that. I know there's lots of people who either don't file a tax return or who don't report all their income. But those who don't have any taxable income - how do they live? If they are living on non-taxable income, then they are probably receiving it from government and are already elligible for government-subsidized healthcare. Perhaps they'll have to pay the 2.5 percent as well - the Feds are real handy at passing out money with one hand and then taking it back with the other; just look at the income tax on social security benefits.

I hope my rant about deadbeats doesn't offend. I just think that if someone can work, they should work if they want money.

Doesn't offend me - I feel the same way. In fact, I'd go even further: want money but can't work? Tough, go beg - but if you steal from me, or get someone to do your stealing for you, well....

Makes one wonder, doesn't it? People say the proposed healthcare plan won't work, but as I keep telling everyone: whether something "works" depends on what it is one intended to accomplish. If one's aim is to make private health insurance more expensive to the point that it can't compete with the governments stuff, then this will work. If one's aim is to make people even more dependent on the government for necessities, then this will work. If the aim is increase the size and scope of government power and intrusion into people's lives, this will work. And if the aim is to create even more government jobs paid for by taxes from non-government jobs, then this will work. It all just depends on what one's true purpose is.

In this case I think the purpose is to increase government power and to insure a larger support base for those who are in power.

Oh, well then we see eye to eye, Smartie :)

I think there are quite a few people who don't have any type of income at all, other than government money. But you're right that they are already eligible for government subsidized healthcare. However, now the government wants me, you, us, and anyone else that takes care of themselves to not be able to have anything better than what the government can offer to the deadbeats.

Their aim is definitely to make everyone dependent on the government, as well as grow the government to defiantly uncontrollable proportions. That and perhaps a little punishment and retribution too.
