A Decade of Girls Named Brittney, Tiffany, Candy, and Paris

It's as if the new moms of the late nineties were using Las Vegas stripper advertisement magazines to choose their baby names: Lara Dawn, Astra, Zena, Sheera, Nitasha, Tawny, Starlette.... And now their little 12 year olds want to dress like sluts, and they wonder what's wrong.

When I was a kid my Mom bought all my clothing. I was never given money to go to the store and buy my own things until I was about 17. And whenever things got too tight or short, they went in the give-away box.

I remember one time when I was about 17, about 1984 I think, I came out of my bedroom dressed for church with some pretty big, wild, tousled hair. Looked kind of bed head-ish. My father happened to walk out of his bedroom at the same time, and he took one look at me, and told me to get back in front of that mirror and tame that hair down to a more decent look. That's so funny sounding now when I think about it, but I'm grateful he did keep me on somewhat of a leash when I was younger. I wasn't totally sheltered, but I was definitely given some boundaries and forbidden directions.

That's what I credit now for giving me the sense to know how to have fun and be a little crazy without ending up in jail or naked on the internet.

This article on John Stossel's blog make me glad I don't have kids.

Kids Getting Older Younger

My girl children would probably hate me, because I'd never let them dress like Paris or Brittney, and magazines like Cosmo Girl would never be allowed in my house. I'd be so strict that I'd probably end up causing the opposite effect eventually. But I see 12 and 14 year old girls in slutty clothing all the time now. It's sickening.

Wasn't sexualization of children considered to be one of the many things that contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire?

Add that to the other similarities in our government, and I'd say we're nearly there.

Government Health Care Will Not Have An "Opt-Out" Clause

Investor's Business Daily has gotten a copy of the House health care bill, and has found a section which directly states that only those who already have private insurance can keep their private insurance, but you can never change it, never go to another provider, and if you lose or quit your job you have to get on the government plan. No new private plans can be sold after the law goes into effect, even if you can afford your own plan.

It's Not An Option

"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law."

So, because some lazy ass loser won't get off his ass and take care of his or her own self, the rest of us will have to pay into the government plan as well, so the government can afford to give handouts to the deadbeats not willing to be responsible for their own life.

I'm writing my blue-dog democrat congressman right now. This is absolutely outrageous! Those crooked, lying, disgusting, evil bastards!

De-Clutter

I could never be a pack rat, for I often feel the need to throw things out. I think it's probably cathartic. It makes me feel better to get rid of the clutter and to organize what's left. I can't stand for stuff to pile up.

Today I'm sort of doing that in my online life. I've got way too much unnecessary and unrewarding reading on my Google Reader. Too much of the same stuff even if it's coming from different sources. It's all news and political topics, and all too often the blogs or forums just make me mad or aggravated, particularly the comments. Whether it's the same old narrow-minded people commenting over and over (Reason Hit and Run), or the same old trolls that show up to make the site look bad (Pajamas Media), or someone on Facebook that I don't even know and have nothing in common with and never converse with, either way the postings don't inform me as much as annoy me. It takes up time and keeps me from doing other things that are much more valuable and rewarding to my life.

Besides, I much prefer reading blogs where people write about their lives, their vacations, their thoughts, hobbies, etc. I'm not much for relentless political agendas day in and day out, unless it's short, to the point, intelligently unbiased, and also a pet project of my own.

Other than someone being caught in an embarrassing photo op, or the occasional rant about a first lady wearing $600 sneakers to a soup kitchen event, I really don't want to read endless posts about the same constitutional shreddings over and over and over. I know what I believe, I know where I fall on the political spectrum, and I MORE than know how far away my beliefs are from our current government. And I KNOW that I dig Sarah Palin and that the haters sure like to talk about her to the point of being obsessed. So they can all just keep obsessing. Nothing is changing my mind. The more they hate, the more I think I'm right to like her.

Whew! I almost got on a rant there.

So. Anyway... I'm de-cluttering my online life.

The IRS Wants Your Cell Phone for Taxing

Not surprising at all. Next on the list is probably a tax for company issued uniforms as a clothing gift tax.

Wallet Pop Blog: IRS To Tax Work Cell Phones

I hope these people have nightmares for the rest of their lives. I hope they never get a good night sleep. I hope they have horrible visions of terror and wake up crying like a little girl.

I know I sure do these days. Last night I dreamed that the only job I could find was working for the government in an underground holding facility for bloggers that insulted Obama. All my blog and Facebook friends were prisoners there, and they were stalking me and trying to hurt me, because, surprisingly, I wasn't a prisoner....yet.

I have a gripe

I don't like the term "elites" for describing the left extremists. They are NOT truly elite, but using that term for them indicates that the user thinks they are.

Instead, I prefer to call them "elitists", which implies they just think they're elite or better than anyone who is different from them, and it implies that they are snobbish and judgmental in their choices of what is acceptable and what is not.

I also don't like to call the leftists "liberals". They are not liberal at all. They want everyone to live as they do and only as they do. They are too acceptable of totalitarian ways, as long as it's the totalitarian of their choosing. Socialism is not liberal.

I am liberal. I'm pretty much a live and let live kind of person, as long as I don't have to pay for it, and no one else is being hurt by it.

Petty, I know, but that's really been bugging me lately.

I guess I'm a bit of a cranky-pants today. The Captain is heading back to Washington this afternoon >:-{

Cyber Czar

Ok, so I'm seeing on the news, where this bastard president is making another one of his seeming daily public announcements, that he will be creating yet another "Czar" position. This one is a "Cyber Czar".

Doesn't anyone see that all these freaking czars are a power grab???!! These czars report directly to the president. They are nothing but a way to circumvent congress in making decisions regarding whatever topic the person is a czar of.

Eventually, Obama will not even need his democrat dominated congress to control everything. He'll have dozens of czars reporting directly to him. He did it with the automobile industry, and he'll do it with whatever else he wants.

Fucking sociopath bastard.

Janet Napolitano is an out of control pretentious quack

The only people who AREN'T on this idiot's terrorist/extremist list are illegal aliens and the people who fall to their knees, facing the direction of Washington three times a day, worshiping that bastard in the White House.

Put me on your list, you J. Edgar Hoover looking, lezbo! Right next to the people who are obsessed with the Constitution and don't worship government. I'm proud to be there!

...you skunk-striped, potato-head, incompetent dumb-ass freak.

Euthanize PETA

I'd gladly volunteer to be the one to administer a fatal dose to the evil, worthless, societal slags. They think it's better to kill thousands of helpless pets, rather than find homes for them to live happily, peacefully, and safe. They don't think people should have pets. They'd rather kill them. They think pets are better off dead rather than living with a human who loves them and takes care of them.

Bastards!

They're no better than that jackass scum Michael Vick. And if I ever meet him, I'll have to be held down to keep from shooting his pitiful balls off.

Look for me on the news one day

The U.S. Postal Service announced today (Tuesday) that it is raising the price of a first-class stamp to 44 cents May 11.

Forever Stamps will continue to be sold for the current 42-cent rate until the increase takes effect. The Forever Stamps will remain valid in the future regardless of rate hikes.

***********

Good grief, I almost placed an order last week at Zazzle.com for about 400 custom/personalized stamps with mine and the Captain's names on them, which only come in the 42 cents non-forever style, to use on wedding invitations, RSVP envelopes, and thank you notes.

I swear to god.... after hearing about what all this lying piece-of-so-called stimulus bill is going to do to our medical records and health care, and how the federal government is going to deny transportation funds to all states and counties that don't enforce their new law that makes brick and/or metal mailboxes illegal on public roadsides... which means that MY very nice (and expensive) brick column mailbox with wrought iron light fixture and drop box for packages inside the column has to be done away with in favor of a cheap, ugly, plastic or wooden mailbox that will fall apart instead of holding up when hit by a non-driving jerk who can't keep his car on the road.... I swear I'd have gone SO postal if I had bought those damn stamps and they were going to end up being out of date before my wedding.

Geeez! It's like we already live in 1982 Soviet Union or something!

AARRRGHHH!

I'm ready to storm Washington and raise some revolutionary hell! Where's a f***ing boat full of over taxed tea when you need one???

I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass

Sometimes Post Secret just annoys the hell out of me. The things some people think are torrid and burdensome secrets are just stupid. How old are these people? 14? 15?

"Omg, I'm not wearing any underpants!"

Big deal, I never do, hardly ever...on any given day. It's not a big scandal.

"Omg, I hate my own race!"

Yeah, and I bet you're a bleeding heart little whiny baby too, probably think the government should make sure everyone has an equal amount of everything in life too, huh.

"Omg, the whole world is just wrong, everyone should not be fighting, leave the terrorists alone, they're just totally misunderstood and only fighting back because they're oppressed from not having all the things you and I have because George Bush took it all from them."

How do people believe such bullshit?

"I'm not ambitious enough for my own dreams!"

Then either get off your ass and go to work or shut the hell up and don't be asking for handouts, loser.

"I want to kill myself, but I don't want to die. Does that make sense?"

Please, go ahead and give it a shot. Give us all a break from your misery.

Wah, wah, wah. Some people really need to get over themselves.

Things That Get Me Fired Up

It really ticks me off when I'm at the supermarket, and I willingly and acceptingly get in a longer line that has several people with full shopping carts, because my cart is full as well. And the reason the line is longer is because while there are usually four or five lanes open for people with under ten items, there are only two or three open for the rest of us, even though the store has fifteen other checkout lanes that are never open.

And then after I've waited in line for all those people verifying their coupons and arguing about the discount on the holiday items, and I finally get ready to start unloading my cart, some little cutsie-type of shopper dashes up and wants to know if she can "jump in front of me because she only has two items and is in a really really big hurry because her baby's daddy is waiting in the car."

Considering the pelting rain and frigid temps I was braving to do the shopping for my parents, I was not feeling very charitable toward ridiculously dressed teenagers buying mascara and Clairol Herbal Essence hair coloring today.

I dug deep and smiled my best sugar-coated venom smile and let her know that I was in a big hurry too, and that if she would just venture on down to the other end of the store, she'd find several lanes especially for people with only one or two items, just like her, and she wouldn't have to beg favor from people like me, with full shopping carts who are keeping the store's economy going despite the long wait and lack of check-out lanes available to us.

I always did relate to the Julia Sugarbaker character on Designing Women.
